Haiti Relief

http://www.yele.org/

Calling all Prayer Warriors:

More than ever before we have to stand together in prayer for the people in Haiti.  I could not even imagine the devastation that the people of Haiti are feeling.  Now is the time to link up together in prayer looking to the hills from whence our help comes from and intercede on behalf of these people.  God is a restoring God.  God is a healing God.  God is a comforting God.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (New King James Version)

17 pray without ceasing,

And though prayer is excellent, I urge you all to step out on faith and help in a monetary way.  Extend some help to those in need.  Below is a site where you can donate $5.00!  There is strength in numbers and you can not imagine what your donation will do for the families.

Let’s not make excuses for why we can not donate $5.00.  We spend more than $5.00 on a meal at a fast food restaurant.  Some of us spend more that $5.00 on coffee.  Forfeit those extra spending for one meal and donate to help someone in need.

Visit: http://www.yele.org/

(If you want to give more money click on the donate button on the website and you will be transfered to a page with other options.)

Someone lost their home, someone lost their child, someone lost their parents, someone lost everything but the clothes on their back.  What are you willing to do for someone in need?  Let’s extend the love of God to others.

Thank you.

Walls will come down

Sunshine’s Reflections

Praise the Lord it’s Friday!  Stand up and clap because you made it.  You made it to another Friday.  You thought you were not going to make it without snapping on your children, cursing your boss, fussing at your church members, falling into depression, becoming overwhelmed by your circumstances, but praise God you made it!!!  Take a moment to have a Praise Break for the Lord!!!

Thought for the Day: Walls will come down

Hebrews 11:30 (New King James Version)

By Faith They Overcame

   30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days.

As believers we all have walls that surround us.  Some of our walls are made of wood, some made of bricks, some made of concrete, some made of steel.  No matter what your wall is made of I am here to tell you that by faith those walls can come tumbling down.

You may be facing situations in your life that seem impossible to handle.  The walls of unemployment hang over your head, the walls of hate are barreling down over you, the walls of financial difficulties are closing in on you, the walls of fear look so overwhelming, the walls of disease, confusion, bitterness, jealousy, wrath, depression, disappointment, low-self esteem, promiscuity, addiction, and complacency are about to cave in on you.  But I am here today standing on God’s Word that when you put your faith in Him and walk in His way the walls will come tumbling down.

When was the last time you went to God expecting Him to move?  When was the last time you went to Him with an unwavering faith knowing that He would move in your life?  When God moves there is no telling what walls will come down, but one thing that is certain is walls will come down.

Someone is about to walk into their deliverance.  God is calling you to walk by faith and not by sight.  He is about to tear down some walls.  He has the wrecking crew already in place He is just waiting on you to step out on faith and believe that He can and will do it.

Food for thought:  Your faith is the key to God pushing the bulldozers in your life to tear down your walls.

I pray that you all have a blessed and safe weekend in the Lord.  Remember to share God’s Word with others.

Drop those bags

Sunshine’s Reflections

Good morning family and friends,

Happy Thursday to you all!  Praise God for carrying us towards the end of another week.  Give God praise for another day.

TFTD: Drop those bags

Lyrics to I surrender All

All to Jesus I surrender;
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.

Refrain:
I surrender all,
I surrender all;
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.

All to Jesus I surrender;
Humbly at His feet I bow,
Worldly pleasures all forsaken;
Take me, Jesus, take me now.

All to Jesus I surrender;
Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
Let me feel the Holy Spirit,
Truly know that Thou art mine.

All to Jesus I surrender;
Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power;
Let Thy blessing fall on me.

All to Jesus I surrender;
Now I feel the sacred flame.
Oh, the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory, to His Name!

Many Christians are familiar with this song and may often refer to it when in times of worship, but I would stand boldly to say that some of us if not all of us haven’t truly surrendered ALL because we are hanging on to some stuff.

To all my bag ladies-that Louis Vuitton, Dooney & Bourke, Gucci, and Prada bag looks good on you.  I see you are all coordinated and it compliments your style the only problem is that all of those bags are weighing you down.  How can you freely give to the Lord Almighty if your hands are full with baggage from your past?  Failed relationships, bags filled with bad judgements, wounded hearts, hurt feelings, false ideals about self and others, broken promises, and so much more.

To my duffel bag fellas-those Mezlan Verdi, Madison’s, Steve Madden’s, and Allen Edmonds look good on you.  I see you fill your bag with nothing but the finer things in life, but I notice that your bags are getting to heavy.  You say that you humbly bow at Christ feet, but its hard for you to bend over with those duffel bags that are holding you back.  Your bags are filled with inappropriate relationships, depression, wounds from family members, identity crisis and more.

When you decide to Surrender All you have to release everything that is holding you back.  That means you are going to have to release some people, some habits, some emotions, some attitudes, and some ideals.  And when you release all that baggage that you have carried for years do not go back and pick it up.  Totally surrender it to the Lord.  God can’t fill your hands with new blessings because you have held on to all of your baggage with a “kung fu grip”.  Release it.  God wants to elevate you but He can’t because your baggage is holding you down.  Release it.  It’s time to DROP THOSE BAGS!

Food for thought: Are you ready to be filled with the joy of full salvation like the song says?  Then drop those bags.

Have a blessed day dropping those bags!

Deliberate

Sunshine’s Word of the Day!

Happy Wednesday to you all!

Matthew 7:7-8 (New King James Version)

Keep Asking, Seeking, Knocking

   7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

Today’s Word is: Deliberate!

The definition of deliberate is done with full consciousness of the nature and effects; intentional.

When you decide to do something for the Lord you have to be deliberate or intentional in your approach.  You can’t just stumble on answers to your questions and desires.  You have to be intentional about how, when, and why you ask God for things.  You have to seek Him on purpose and not by accident.  You have to make a conscious decision to walk up to the proverbial door and knock on it.  When you do things deliberately you are fully aware of the nature and the effects that will take place.  So you should be confident in knowing that when you ask you will receive, when you seek you will find, and when you knock the door will be open.  Be deliberate about your worship with the Lord.

Whenever you see or hear the word Deliberate, think of how you can become deliberate in your praise, deliberate in your worship, deliberate in your prayers, deliberate in your fasting, deliberate in seeking and building a relationship with the Lord.

Have a blessed day being deliberate for the Lord!

Invite Him in

Sunshine’s Reflections

Happy Tuesday family and friends!  God is moving.  God is moving.  God is moving.  Don’t miss Him.

Thought for the Day: Invite Him in

The beauty about God is that He loves us so much that He made the ultimate sacrifice.  He has a standing invitation open to all who will confess their sins and believe that His Son died for all of our sins and rose again on the third day.  God is forever with us and we need to make a decision to invite Him in.  Some of us know of God, heard about Him, witness His grace and mercy over our lives, witnessed miracles and yet we still have not invited Him in.

Invitation to the Lord

by: Nicole “Sunshine” Ellis

Lord I believe I’m ready

I believe I’m ready to surrender my sins

surrender my helplessness

surrender my hopelessness

surrender my being

to the Only All knowing

All seeing

All forgiving

All loving

All being God

Lord I believe I am ready to Invite you in

Invite you into my mind

my heart

my soul

my way of life

my speech

my walk

I do not possess the artistic ability to create

an invitation with cut outs and lace overlay

drizzled with glitter and pop outs

But I do have a desperation to know You

I present myself as filthy rags

torn

worn

and given up on by many

This is my invitation to You Lord

Will you accept?

“I’ve accepted you before you were even born

My eternal love for you is so great that before your

parents knew you

I sent My Only Son to die

To die for the multitude of sins that man would commit

I’ve waited on You

And I knew

I knew the day would come

when you would Invite Me in.”

I pray that the above poem was a blessing to you.  God is waiting for you to Invite Him in.  Will you do it today?

Food for thought:

Romans 10:9 (New King James Version)

9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Fasting for the Lord

Sunshine’s Reflections

Good morning family and friends,

Happy Monday to you all!  I pray that everyone had a blessed and productive weekend.

Thought for the Day: Fasting for the Lord

2 Chronicles 20:3-4 (New King James Version)

3 And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. 4 So Judah gathered together to ask help from the LORD; and from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.

This is the time of year where many Christians begin or already are participating in a spiritual fast.  When a person fast they deny the needs of their flesh for a greater need of the spirit.  This is a time when believers fall into total desperation to the Lord that they will forsake their “worldly” and “fleshy” desires to get closer to Him.

Ponder these questions for a minute or two: When was the last time you surrendered yourself to a fast?  Have you found yourself desperate for the things of the Lord?  Or are you too “good” to fast?

The scripture above shows us that King Jehoshaphat was so desperate that he sought out the Lord in a fast.  His kingdom was in danger of being destroyed along with the entire Jewish nation and he was afraid.  I mean he was a king, surely he could have went to his high priest, his treasurer, his consultants, his close friends, his army, and advisors to find answers to this problem, but he sought God.  Not only did he seek God but he fast unto the Lord along with all of Judah.

Now if a king could go to God, surely we can.  Maybe you haven’t been desperate for God.  Maybe you have all the answers.  Maybe you do not need to grow closer to God.  Maybe you are content with where you are in your spiritual walk.  Maybe your life is grand.  Maybe everyone that you care about is doing okay.  Maybe just maybe your fire for the Lord has blown out.

As long as we are living we should seek to have a deeper intimate relationship with God.  It may mean we have to turn down our plate, sacrifice some activities from our routine, and even remove yourself from people so that you can hear from the Lord.

If you are fasting I want to encourage you to take your eyes off of what you are sacrificing and focus on what you will receive: a deeper relationship with God, answers to questions that you have, answers to prayers that you’ve lifted up, more patience for the questions that God might not answer now, and the list goes on.  The bottom line is fasting for the Lord is worth it because your desperation will lead you into constant fellowship with Him.

If you are not fasting, I urge you to search your relationship with the Lord and see if there are some things that you could give up for Him.  There are some things happening in your life now and you can’t seem to find the answers: Fast!  Seek God in which way you should fast…it may be a few days…a week… a month… who knows.  But one thing I do know is if you are desperate and deliberate in seeking God you will FIND HIM!

Food for thought: Matthew 7:7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

Back to the Basics

Sunshine’s Reflections

Happy Friday to you all!!!  Praise God for He is worthy of all the Praise!!!  Excuse me, but I am on a spiritual high and when I think of the goodness of Jesus and all that He has done for me, MY SOUL CRIES OUT Hallelujah, Thank GOD for saving me!

God is moving!  I repeat God is moving, and you do not want to miss Him.  It’s time to position ourselves to experience God in His fullness.  I pray that you embrace the winds of change this season.  God is ready to tear down and build up somethings and you do not want to miss it.  Get in position.

Thought for the Day: Back to the Basics

John 3:16 (New King James Version)

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Somewhere along our Christian walk we have gotten so “holy” that we have forgotten the basics.  We have become so wrapped up in our own spirituality that we can not effectively minister to others.  We are all searching for our “divine” purpose in life that we overlook the fundamentals of our Christian walk.  It’s time to get back to the basics.

Our primary purpose in life is to fellowship with God.  When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden our fellowship with the Lord was broken.  And God loved us so much that He sent His Only begotten Son to die for our sins and become the link to connecting us back to fellowship with God.

I’ve noticed that as Christians become seasoned or mature they often become stale because they are searching for this divine revelation to outline their purpose.  Well stop searching and get back to the basics.  John 3:16 is so loaded with revelation that we just have to sit down and take all of the blessings in.

Here are a few things that you will notice when you get back to the basics:  That God loved you so much that in spite of you cursing Him, turning your back on Him, lying to Him, running from Him, stealing from Him, dishonoring Him, and not even claiming Him, He sent you His VERY best!  God sent His Only Son to die for you!  He didn’t send the animals of the fields that He could replace, but His ONLY SON!  God loved you so much that He wanted to show you that He was willing to give of Himself His very best.  He could have taken you out, but His grace and mercy extended way down to you.  Why?  Because He loves you and fellowship with you is important in order to carry out your purpose.  When you accepted Christ as your personal Savior, receiving everlasting life was a perk.  The real blessing is being able to commune with the Father.  The real blessing is that Jesus came down in the form of man, He who knew no sin became sin for you and for me so that He could intercede on our behalf. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

I don’t know about you, but I am grateful for the sacrifice that was made for me.  If we get back to the basics and stand on the fundamentals of our salvation then we can embrace our purpose in this live.  If you spend more time in fellowship with God then He will be able to lead you on the path to your destiny.  Your purpose has already been determined get back to the basics and fellowship with God!

I pray that you all have a blessed weekend in the Lord.  The greatest testimony that you can share with someone is John 3:16!

Time to Decrease

Sunshine’s Reflection

Good morning family and friends,

I don’t know about you but I can feel the Spirit of the Lord moving in 2010.  There are going to be walls torn down that man will not be able to rebuild.  There will be doors opened that man will not be able to shut.  There will be renewal of relationships that the enemy will not be able to sever.  There will be fulfillment of visions that the world will not be able to steal from you.  The Spirit of the Lord is moving in 2010 can you feel it?  I pray that you position yourselves to receive the blessings of the Lord.  He is moving.  You do not want to miss Him.

Thought for the Day: Time to Decrease

John 3:30 (New King James Version)

30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

How many of you reading this have been waiting on somethings from the Lord?  You may be waiting on a job, a new home, a spiritual awakening, healing of a sickness, salvation for a wayward family member, reconnection from a broken relationship, financial breakthrough from a financially challenging year, better communication within your marriage, a sign for what ministry you should serve in, revelation concerning leaving some people and somethings behind and many more things.

If you have been waiting and it seems like things are the same as yesterday and you are no closer to reaching your breakthrough than I want to challenge you to decrease yourself.  It’s time to decrease!  In the same manner that we go to God for others, we should go to God for ourselves.  But I believe God wants us to go to Him regarding our life with HIM in mind.  The Lord knows what you need before you speak it and I dare to ask how many of you go to Him asking Him what He needs from you in order for Him to increase.

I felt conviction run down my spine.  I am speaking to the choir when I say that God wants to move in a mighty way, but some of us have elevated ourselves so high that we begin floating over Christ.  While seeking your breakthrough is Christ your focus?

I’ve found that the waiting game can become tedious when you need a breakthrough, but I’m a witness that when your focus changes and the Lord is increased and you are decreased that your problems begin decreasing as well.  When you elevate God in your life your complaining spirit becomes quiet, your stress begins to dissipate, your desires become His desires, when you cry you cry out to the glory of the Lord, your worries disappear, your fear of failing and not making it becomes non-existent; why?  I am glad that you asked, because you decreased yourself long enough to allow God to increase over your life and your circumstances.

Someone is waiting for something right now and God told me to tell you to DECREASE!  Your focus is all wrong.  You are spending too much time consumed with your situation that you forgot who God is.  I dare you to increase God right now.  I dare you to claim victory over everything that you have ever hoped for and longed for.  I dare you to look in the mirror and say, “It’s time to Decrease!”.

It’s time to Decrease and let the Lord increase so that His ministry can go forth.  I am a living witness that when God is elevated He will not leave you hanging.

*Food for thought:   Is a need for self elevation worth hindering your breakthrough?

I pray that you have a blessed Thursday in the Lord.

You love me, right? Then keep My Word.

Sunshine’s Reflections

Good morning family and friends,

Happy Wednesday to you all!  I pray that you all are having a productive week thus far.  I pray Gods grace and mercy over your lives.  Be sure to give God thanks just for being GOD!

Thought for the Day(TFTD): You love me, right?  Then keep My Word.

John 14:23 (New King James Version)

23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

Raise your hand if you love the Lord.  (Giggling, I can see you raising your hand with no hesitation).  Great, now that we have established that you believe that you love the Lord, let’s examine what your life tells others about your love for Him.

  • When God tells you to abstain from sexual pleasures before you are married and you don’t abstain what does that say about your love for Him?
  • When God tells you to forgive your brothers and sisters and you refuse to forgive them, what does that say about your love for Him?
  • When God tells you to repent for your sins and you refuse to repent, what does that say about your love for Him?
  • When God tells you to love your enemies but you continue to condemn and hate them, what does that say about your love for Him?
  • When God tells you not to covet your neighbors things, but you do it anyway, what does that say about your love for Him?

You do love Him, right?  We’ll the Word says, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word”.  If you love Christ, then you have to keep His WORD.  Not some of His Word, but all of His Word!  Let me make this personal-If I love the Lord then I need to keep His Word!

Too many Christians today give off great “lip service”.  They say with their mouths that they love the Lord with all of their hearts, but when it comes to living for Christ they fall short.  If you truly love the Lord it will create a burning desire within you to keep His Word.

Do you really love the Lord?  Has your love for Him compelled you to keep His Word?  Does your life effectively demonstrate to others that you are changed and love the Lord?

Take time examining your personal “love relationship” with Christ.  If you truly love Him, then you will desire to do His Will and it will no longer be business as usual.  You will say good-bye to the use of profanity, you will work hard at sitting down that bottled filled with a substance that does not bring God glory, you will remove promiscuous clothing from your wardrobe, you will replace gossiping with uplifting and encouraging words, you will stop stealing and begin giving back, you will be changed!

*Food for thought:   Someone is watching your “love relationship” with Christ right now.  What does it say?

Have a wonderful day in the Lord!!!  Since you love Him, KEEP HIS WORD!

Serenity

Sunshine’s Word of the Day:

Happy Tuesday to you all!

Psalm 107:29 (New King James Version)

 29 He calms the storm,
         So that its waves are still.

 Today’s Word is: Serenity!

The definition for serenity is the state or quality of being serene, calm, or tranquil.

 There are times in our life when we will have to face some storms.  Someone is in the middle of a storm right now.  The wind of defeat is blowing you all over the place.  The waves of fear and disappointment are tossing you left and right.  The rain of heartache and pain is pouring down heavy on your head and you feel like you can not make it.  I am here to tell you that God can step into any storm and calm the winds and the waves.  God can bring about serenity in the midst of your storm.

Ask God for serenity during your storm.  Enjoy that sense of tranquil peace.

Whenever you see or hear the word Serenity-tell your storm “I am serene.  I’ve found peace in knowing that I am not alone during this storm.”

Have a blessed day!

Mrs. Nicole “Sunshine” Ellis
