Good morning! How are you doing this Wednesday? How has life been treating you? Better yet, how have you been treating yourself? Take a moment to answer these questions.
TFTD: Reach forward….stop looking behind
Philippians 3:12-16 (New King James Version)
Pressing Toward the Goal
12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
15 Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. 16 Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.
In order to move forward in life you have to look ahead. You can’t walk forward if you are looking behind. You can’t drive to the east if you are looking to the west. You have to forget about those things and people behind you and reach forward.
When you decide to reach forward to the things that are ahead of you, all of your baggage cannot come with you. In order to obtain the blessing from God you have to empty your hands of the things that do not matter.
It’s hard to climb a mountain if your hands are not free to climb. Many of us have so much baggage in our hands from our past that we do not have room to receive the blessings that God has for us. How can we embrace the future if we won’t let go of yesterday? Someone reading this today is blocking their destiny because they cannot let go of their past hurts. You know who you are, God wants you to work on a project with someone who disappointed you in the past, but you won’t begin to accept that idea because you are holding on to the past. God wants to elevate you forward, but you are too busy looking behind you.
I know it’s not always easy to forget, but how long will you allow your past to be your crutch? How long will you allow your troubles and heartache of your past keep you from walking in your destiny? Often times, it’s not others that put us in bondage it’s us that put ourselves in bondage. Are you holding onto that past hurt from that past lover, making it difficult for your future spouse to deal with you? Are you carrying the burdens of that hurtful family member who managed to beat you down emotionally every chance they got, making it impossible for you to love or trust people who are not your family? Are you still holding resentment against the employer that laid you off years ago? What thing, event, or person(s) are you allowing you to keep you from pressing towards the goal?
Forget the things that are behind you. Stretch your hand in front of you and REACH! Reach for the goal. It’s time to let go and move forward. Do not allow the things of this world keep your from obtaining what God has for you in heaven.
Have a blessed day.
