Good Morning. I pray that everyone is doing well.
TFTD: You have to stay connected
John 15:1-5 (New King James Version)
1 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away;[a] and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
Yesterday I was watering my plant and I noticed some leaves had withered and died. I pulled all the brown pieces off and the rest of the plant is big and green. It made me think about Christians in the body of Christ. When we accept Christ as our personal savior we are planted with Him. Each time we read the word, study the word, attend classes, attend church, etc. we are being fed.
The more spiritual nourishment we receive the more we grown and eventually bear fruit. I looked at the plant yesterday and God showed me that much like the plant had some leaves that withered and died it’s the same as the body of Christ. There are many members connected, but not rooted. There are so many believers feeding on a little bit of Christ, but not all of Him.
And the way I plucked the dead leaves off is the same way God does. If you are not bearing fruit, God will remove you. God will prune and nurture the plants that bear fruit. Are you bearing fruit today? Are you connected to the vine, the source of your salvation?
It’s not sufficient to sit in church Sunday after Sunday and not grow. It’s not acceptable to be in Christ and still die because you refuse to get connected. Accepting Christ is the easy part, now you have to grow so that you can bear fruit.
Take a moment to examine your spiritual walk, what can you do to increase your relationship with Christ? What can you do to become more involved in the kingdom?
Spectators will be like that brown leaf that is plucked away. Stop sitting by waiting for someone to feed you and get connected to the true vine. You can’t bear fruit without Christ. It’s time to live a life with promise, don’t wither and die because you are not connected. Get and stay connected to Christ!
I pray that you spend more time allowing God to work on you.
Have a blessed day!
