Good morning. This is a new day, make sure you give God praise for waking you up and starting you on your way.
TFTD: Be obedient
1 Peter 1:14 (NIV)
14 As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.
1 Peter 1:14 The Message (MSG)
13-16 So roll up your sleeves, put your mind in gear, be totally ready to receive the gift that’s coming when Jesus arrives. Don’t lazily slip back into those old grooves of evil, doing just what you feel like doing. You didn’t know any better than; you do now. As obedient children, let yourselves be pulled into a way of life shaped by God’s life, a life energetic and blazing with holiness. God said, “I am holy; you be holy.”
When I think of someone being disobedient, the best example is when a parent tells a child to do something and they don’t do it. Clearly the child knows what to do, but they refuse to do it. That is being disobedient. Disobedience is a refusal or failure to obey. How many times have you been disobedient as a child? How many times have you been disobedient as an adult?
Disobedience is not limited to the young, but to everyone. Any time God instructs you to do something or to stop something and you refuse to do it, you are being disobedient. Every time we ignore God’s commandments, we are being disobedient. Every time we ask God for guidance and then we refuse to do what He has instructed us to do, we are being disobedient. It’s time to stop doing what we want to do and be obedient!
The scripture tells us not to go back to the evil that we use to do when we lived in ignorance. Before you really knew what God required of you, you could write off disobedience due to ignorance, you lacked knowledge and understanding. But everyday you grow in Christ, you have to be held accountable and you have to be obedient to God’s word.
I love how the Message Translation is worded, “…As obedient children, let yourselves be pulled into a way of life shaped by God’s life, a life energetic and blazing with holiness. God said, “I am holy; you be holy.” It’s so easy to be sucked into the way of the world filled with sin and live like we don’t even care, but to be PULLED INTO A WAY OF LIFE SHAPED BY GOD’S LIFE, how awesome is that. The way the world may try to suck you in, God can pull you back into godly living. It’s time to be obedient. Follow Christ and live a life filled with energy and blazing for His glory.
If you want to put an end to unnecessary suffering, stop being disobedient. Have a blessed day.
