Good morning!  Happy Thursday to you all!

TFTD: Why settle for less than when Greater is available?

1 John 4:4 (NIV)

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

1 John 4:4 (MSG)

4-6 My dear children, you come from God and belong to God. You have already won a big victory over those false teachers, for the Spirit in you is far stronger than anything in the world. These people belong to the Christ-denying world. They talk the world’s language and the world eats it up. But we come from God and belong to God. Anyone who knows God understands us and listens. The person who has nothing to do with God will, of course, not listen to us. This is another test for telling the Spirit of Truth from the spirit of deception.

During my morning jog, I began thinking, “Why do so many believers settle for less when GREATER is available?”  Today is a simple make it plain blog.  When you accept Christ as your Lord and Savior you are reconciled back to God and now have overcome the world because Christ dwells within you.  If your body is a dwelling place for Christ, and Christ is “GREATER” than the world, than you have the power to be greater than the world too.  I like how the message translation says, “…you come from God and belong to God.” First it’s important to know where you came from and who you belong to.  Then it reminds us that we have already won the victory over all the false prophets.  But this is the part that made my spirit leap; …“for the Spirit in you is FAR STRONGER than anything in the world.”  Did you catch that?  The Spirit of the Lord is FAR STRONGER than anything in the world therefore you are stronger than anything in the world with the power of the Holy Spirit.

So I ask why settle for less than when Greater is available?  Why do we allow the world to sell us false ideals?  Why do we put more value in what man says instead of what God says?  Isn’t God greater than man?  Why do we allow man to get us so worked up and allow their words to dictate how we feel about ourselves, but diminish the words and promises of God?  Isn’t God greater than man?  Since Christ dwells within you, aren’t you greater than the lies the world tells you about yourself?

Someone is settling for a bad relationship because someone in the world told you that’s all you are worth, but I dare you to trust in the Greater and know that you are worth more than what man says.  Someone is settling for a job based on the criteria man set for you, but promotion comes from God and He can qualify you for something man says you are unqualified for.  Someone is settling in their state of low self-esteem and depression because man tore down your self-image, but I dare you to embrace that you are fearfully and wonderfully made by a GREAT GOD!  Stop settling for less and tap into the “Greater” that dwells within you.

It’s time to embrace the “Greater” and stop settling for the less than acceptable way of living the world tries to sell to you.  Someone said you would never amount to anything, but they didn’t know that greater is He that is in YOU.  Someone said you are a failure, but they didn’t know that greater is He that is in You.  The lies stop today!  You are great because you serve a Great God.  If you don’t know Christ as your Lord and Savior, then you have time today.  Take time to learn about this Great God I speak of.  He is a life changing God.  He is the ONE TRUE LIVING GOD.  He is a redeeming God.  He is a restoring God.  He is my SAVIOR and I am great because of Him and you can be too.

Romans 10:9 (NIV)

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Salvation is a declaration and a belief away.  You don’t have to understand everything about Christ, just know He is the Only One who can save you.

Have a blessed day and stop settling for less than when GREATER is available!
