Good morning! Happy Monday. I pray you had a wonderful weekend. It’s a new week, so let’s make it great.
TFTD: We have to love one another
1 John 4:20-21 (NIV)
20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. 21 And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.
I will not even begin this blog by making it appear like this is an easy topic. This is probably one of the toughest areas of Christian living right below forgiveness; loving your brother and sister. The term brother and sister doesn’t just refer to your biological family, but it refers to your spiritual family. As believers in Christ, we are connected by the Blood of the Lamb and are now apart of the same spiritual family. It is important that we learn to love one another.
How can we claim to love God and walk around quoting scriptures, but we hate our brother or sister? According to the Word of God, this is impossible. He calls us a liar if we operate like this. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be a liar. There are believers walking around now who hate their brother and sister, but yet they proclaim this love for Christ. It actually happens more often than we would like. I personally think the reason it happens is because it’s easier to love Christ because we don’t see Him. Not only that, but God doesn’t make mistakes. He is perfect. It’s more challenging to love people because we see them daily, they make mistakes, they offend us, they condemn us, they lie, they cheat, they steal, they can be unreasonable and the list goes on. We are all human and we are all imperfect and it’s because of this it requires more work to love your brother and sister.
It is so important as believers to work on this daily. Loving our brothers and sisters is not a suggestion, rather a commandment from God. The best way to love people is by first loving God. The best example of how to love is by searching the scriptures and seeing how Christ demonstrated His love towards us. While we were sinners, Christ loved us and died for us. So if Christ could love us while we were and still are in all of our mess, then we can pray to Him daily to give us the strength and guidance to show others the same love.
WE HAVE TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER!!! We can do it with CHRIST!
God bless and have a blessed day!
