Happy Friday to you all! Thank the Lord for carrying us to the end of another work week.
TFTD: Promise of God-Temptation will not overtake you
1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV)
13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
1 Corinthians 10:13 (MSG)
13 No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it.
Today is the 18th day of the new year. How many of you have already been tempted to sin? How many of you have already been tempted to give up on the new course God has placed you on? I’ll be honest, I’ve been tempted to act out of character a few times, but I was reminded that I’m on a new course this year. Temptations to sin will come, but I don’t have to fall victim to the sin. As believers, we are not exempt from the temptation to sin however we are promised a way of escape.
Last night in bible study my pastor said when we pray for something we should find a scripture and a promise of God to stand on. Sometimes we have to be reminded of the promises of God and then stand on them unwavering. No matter what form of sin you are faced with, God has promised that temptation will not overtake you. When you feel like you are about to sin, you can remind God of His promise and say, “Lord, in your Word you promised me a way of escape and that temptation will not overtake me, so I’m standing on your promise!” When we remind God of His promises to us, we also remind ourselves of His promises to us. Since God is not a man who should lie we can put 100% of our trust in His word.
As believers, we have to stay in the Word of God and become saturated with His presence in order to combat the temptations of this world. Today, sin hangs in the balance of our daily lives. It meets our children at school, it sits in our offices at work, it pulls up in the drive-way of our homes, it tempts us through the air-ways, television and the internet, it even sits next to us in church. Oh, sin is alive and well, but God is able to keep you from falling to sin. Sin won’t beat you with God on your side!
When sin begins courting you, I dare you to stand on the promise of God and resist the temptation to sin. I challenge you to choose the way of escape instead of making excuses for sin. I urge you to remind God of His promises and stand on His Word. You are not exempt from sin, but you are able to win against sin with the help of Jesus Christ.
Have a blessed day and make a conscious decision to live a life that is pleasing to Him.
