Good morning.  Happy Tuesday to you all!  What a glorious day it is.  I pray you all have a wonderful day in the Lord.

TFTD: Don’t let one member of the body send you to hell

Matthew 5:27-30 (NIV)

27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’[a] 28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

Now I know some of you are looking at the title of this blog and saying, “What in the world is she about to talk about.”  We’ll indulge me for a moment.  Matthew 5:27-30 speaks on adultery, but allow me to make it practical.  As believers, we are not exempt from sin.  We are merely sinners saved by grace.  Now, each day we should strive to live like Christ, dying to our fleshly desires.  The most productive way to do this is to first acknowledge the things that tempt you and ask God to keep you and guard you from these things.  Adultery is not limited to sexual acts between a person who is married.  As believers we are married to Christ when we accept Him as our Lord and Savior and anytime we are unfaithful to our covenant with God we are committing adultery.  Yeah, toes will be stepped on.

When you see something that you KNOW is out of the will of God and think about dipping and dabbing in that thing you are sinning against God.  You are being unfaithful to God.  It is important to guard our ears, eyes, hearts, tongues, hands, etc.  If something you are watching on TV is causing you to lust in the flesh then “gouge” your eye out and throw it away.  Now don’t do this literally, but figuratively speaking don’t let one member of your body send you to hell.  Turn off the television, stop watching shows that feed your flesh and kill your spirit.  The same goes for the music you listen to.  If the music you listen to takes you back to a worldly place, then cut off your ear.  Throw away those old CD’s and change the radio station.  It’s not worth sending your soul to hell because of one member of your body.

Now allow me to take it a step further.  Church-we are the body of Christ and you may have some church members who don’t edify the body.  You have to be careful who you call a friend.  Some members of the spiritual body aren’t going to heaven.  Yes, I said it.  Not every one in the church is going to heaven.  So be careful about the company you keep.  Don’t let one member of your church cause you to go to hell.  Don’t allow one member of the church to taint the entire body of Christ.  We have to stand firm on the Word of God and sometimes that means you have to CUT off RELATIONSHIPS!!!  Some people will send you to hell in a hand basket if you are not careful.  Don’t hold on to relationships just because you go to church together.  That “church-goer” could be tempting your bad habits; cursing, lying, gossiping, stealing, cheating, gambling, and the list goes on.

Take time to sit under God and listen to His advice.  Stop cheating on the Lord with things or people.  He has given so much for you.  The least you can do is be faithful.

Have a blessed day.  Take time to meditate on God’s word and examine if you are having an affair with someone or something that is not God.
