Good morning!!! Happy Wednesday to you all! We have successfully made it to the middle of the work/school week. YEAH!
TFTD: Watch your thoughts…
Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV)
7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you.
Today starts the beginning of lent. Lent is a season of forty days, not counting Sundays, which begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Saturday. Lent is a time when many Christians prepare for Easter by observing a period of fasting, repentance, and spiritual discipline. The purpose of lent is to set aside time for reflection on our Lord Jesus Christ – his suffering and his sacrifice, his life, death, burial and resurrection. Some may fast from food, certain activities, certain people, and the list goes on. Everyone will give up something different according to their relationship with Christ.
We’ll God stopped by and wanted me to encourage you to watch your thoughts because they will become your actions. I believe one of the most debilitating things we have are our thoughts. Yes, our thoughts can either lift us up or tear us down. Our thoughts can paralyze us from taking the next steps in life. Our thoughts can create a level of complacency due to the fear we allow to keep us bound. Yes, our thoughts can weaken not only our physical body, but our spiritual body, and the body of Christ.
The scripture says, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” Whatever we think in our heart will eventually come to fruition. If you constantly think you are going to fail at a certain task then eventually when you go to do the task you will fail. You didn’t fail because you were unable to carry out the task physically. You failed because you decided in your mind you will fail. You have to watch your thoughts because they will eventually turn into actions. I love the picture at the top of the blog. The little kitten is looking in the mirror and sees a lion. If you think you are great in spite of physical limitations then you will begin operating in greatness because you will take on the “air” of someone who is great. Your work performance will be impeccable, your attitude will be positive and filled with determination, all because you first thought you were great.
During this lent season I encourage you all to spend time seeking God and ask Him to reveal your thoughts. What do you say about yourself? What do you say about others? How has your thoughts affected your performance? What do you believe in your heart?
This is who I believe I am:
1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV)
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
So since I am a chosen generation-I will act like it. Since I am a member of a royal priest hood, a holy nation, I will act like it. Since I am God’s own special people, I will act like it. Since I am a reflection of the light of Christ, I will act like it. But first I HAVE TO BELIEVE IT. I HAVE TO WATCH MY THOUGHTS!!! WE HAVE TO WATCH OUR THOUGHTS!!! 1 Peter 2:9 has to consume my thoughts so my actions reflect what God’s word says. So ask yourself, “What do I think about myself?
I pray you all have a blessed day. Remember to seek God on what you can surrender to Him while you honor and reflect on His goodness. May God continue to bless you and keep you.
