Jesus is the Reason

Poetry Corner

Happy Christmas Eve!

Jesus is the Reason

by: Nicole L. Ellis

Jesus is the reason

lend me your heart

Don’t allow the world to tear the real meaning of Christmas apart

Receiving presents is nice

It’s a way of showing others that you care

However, Jesus is the real reason for the season

And His love went to the cross for our sins to bear

Children of God, don’t be deceived

A measure of Christ’s love is not determined by the material things you receive

Place your focus on the greater that comes from above

Being covered by grace and mercy is an ongoing indication of God’s love

Jesus is the reason

lend me your ear

If you don’t receive the gifts you want

You have nothing to fear

Jesus can give you so much more

When you accept Him as your Lord and Savior

He will give you blessings you won’t have room enough to store

Salvation is Free

Jesus already paid the price

Choose Jesus today

Make Him the Center of your life!

Have a Merry Christmas and remember that Jesus is the Reason for the Season!

Stop apologizing

Sunshine’s Reflections

Happy Friday!  I am so glad it’s Friday!  At 4:00p.m. today, I am officially on Christmas break.  I am looking forward to a time of rest and rejuvenation.  I also welcome this down time to work on some personal projects.  Please make time for yourself over the Christmas holiday, love on your family, and celebrate who Christ is.

TFTD: Stop apologizing

Romans 10:10-11 (NKJV)

10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”[a]

I don’t know who this is for, but today’s message is short and sweet:

STOP APOLOGIZING FOR BEING YOU!

No one is perfect and by no means am I telling you to stop apologizing, but I am encouraging someone to stop apologizing for being who God created you to be.  If you have done wrong then apologize from a sincere heart.  If you have offended someone then apologize for hurting their feelings, but stop and I mean stop apologizing for your anointing, your calling and your gifts!!!

Stop allowing people to make you feel bad for being blessed.  Stop allowing people to make you feel guilty for having a praise on your lips.  You didn’t accept Christ as your Lord and Savior just to walk around tip toeing around people.  God promised to open up the windows of heaven for you and pour out a blessing, so why should you go around apologizing for your blessing?  I’m not telling you to walk around boasting and bragging, but you don’t need to walk around hiding your blessings either.

Stop apologizing for the way you shout.  God has blessed you time and time again and if you have a loud shout or one filled with tears, you keep on shouting and don’t apologize for it.  Stop apologizing for the doors that God has been opening for you.  If people are tired of seeing you get blessed then that is their problem and not yours.  They need to spend more time with God instead of complaining about you.  Stop apologizing for your spiritual and physical healing.  God has brought you a mighty long way and people may not understand why you are the man or woman you are today and that is okay.  However, you don’t need to spend your life apologizing for the new creature you are through Christ.

Again, I don’t know who you are, but if you are reading this and you have been spending your Christian life apologizing for being anointed, called and gifted then STOP APOLOGIZING TODAY!

God wants to use you and is probably already using you for His glory.  Remain humble in Christ and walk in your gifts!!!

Have a blessed day!

Walk it out

Sunshine’s Reflections

Good morning!  Happy “Hump Day”!  I’m so glad it’s Wednesday.  It’s been a busy week, but Christmas break is almost in sight!

TFTD: Walk it out

James 2:14-18 (NKJV)

14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your[a] works, and I will show you my faith by my[b] works.

James 2:26

New King James Version (NKJV)

26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

I’ve been thinking about this thing called faith lately.  So many believers claim to have it but they live a stagnant life.  Their lack of mobility in their thoughts and actions makes it hard to believe what they say.  There is a saying, “Actions speak louder than words.”, this simple phrase really speaks volumes about a person’s faith walk, in my opinion.  The scripture says, faith without works is dead.  So really, faith without works is equivalent to someone talking about stuff more than they apply action to it.  How can someone believe in the God you serve if you are always talking about how great He is, but they don’t see the evidence of a great God in your life?

Faith without works is dead and it’s time to get moving!

I want to encourage someone to “walk it out”.  The word walk is a verb, which means it’s an action word.  Walk means to advance or travel by foot at a moderate speed or pace; to proceed by steps; or to move by advancing.  Whenever you hear the phrase, “walk by faith” you should remember that having faith requires an action.  You have to take the necessary steps to showing God that you trust Him.  For example, if you are praying for a new job, you can’t just say “God I declare and decree a new job in Jesus name” and then sit by staring at the wall.  You have to pray for a new job and then begin cleaning up your resume, applying to jobs, and then completing projects at your current job.  It’s not enough to say, I believe I am healed and then walk around defeated and ill, you still must go to the doctor’s and get checked out, eat properly and exercise in order to demonstrate that you have faith that God will heal you.

What you do for Christ is the key to increasing your faith.  Children have faith that on Christmas day they will receive gifts.  They write a list of the things they want, they may even pray over the items they want and then on Christmas Eve they go to sleep expecting gifts on Christmas morning.  I love the faith children have.  My son has been praying for snow.  He is 4 years old, but he has faith that it will snow in our area, one where it barely snows.  But guess what, he wanted to know how he could get snow and then began praying for it.  I believe in God so much and the faith of my son that I will be purchasing him some little boots.  Why?  Because I’m moved by the faith of a child.

This faith thing requires action.  You have to walk it out!  Stop sitting by praying all of the time and begin putting action to your prayers.  Ask God to reveal to you what you can do to increase your faith.  If you have faith that God will send you back to school, start applying to school.  If you have faith that God will bless you with a new car, start saving your money for the car payment and researching car prices.  If you have faith that God will mend broken relationships then start by apologizing first!  You have to walk this thing out!

Faith without works is dead.  If you never said a word, could people tell that you have faith?

Have a blessed day!

Poetry Corner: It’s not over

Poetry Corner

Good morning!  It’s a new day.  Yesterday is over.  Rejoice!

It’s not over

by: Nicole Ellis

I’ve been hit below the belt

Falsely accused and beaten

Ridiculed for who I was

To the world I looked defeated

I was betrayed by those in my corner

Denied by those who said they loved me

The future didn’t look bright, you see

However, death was never my fate

On the Contrary, it was connecting me towards my destiny

People ruled me out

Others took me out of the game

But at the sound of the trumpet

Every knee will bow and the earth will proclaim my name

It’s not over

I will be back

Don’t delay getting your life on track

I am stronger than ever

I’m more powerful than those with money and fame

If you are inquiring about who I am

I am Jesus Christ, that is my name!

If you thought it was over, it wasn’t.  The word of God tells us that man doesn’t know the day or the hour that Jesus will return, but He will return.  Will you be ready when Jesus returns?

Matthew 24:36-39 (NKJV)

36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven,[a] but My Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

Have a blessed day!

God is on every side

Sunshine’s Reflections

Good morning!   I pray that you had a blessed weekend.

TFTD: God is on every side

Psalm 139:7-10(NKJV)

Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend into heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
If I take the wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 Even there Your hand shall lead me,
And Your right hand shall hold me.

Have you ever been somewhere and felt like you were always bumping into the same person?  It’s like no matter where you are you manage to see that person.  I mean are they following you or something?  Well if you feel like that with individuals you can definitely feel that way about God.  No matter where you go, He IS always there.

God is omnipresent.  He is EVERYWHERE!  He is in the past, the present and the future.  How awesome is that!  I’m sure you have heard the saying, “He/She has got my back?”  This statement implies that someone is always there for you in times of trouble.  It’s great to know you have the support of a spouse, friend, sibling, etc., but nothing compares to the support of God.  Not only does God have your back, but he has your front, sides, top, bottom, inside and outside.  GOD IS ON EVERY SIDE!  I don’t know about you, but it feels good knowing that God is always with me.

There is something that is so amazing about who God is.  He can be present in the past and already know about my mess and doesn’t try to use it against me and yet HE still loves me.  He sees me trying in the present and even sees me when I stumble and fall, yet He rocks me in His arms and keeps me safe for another days journey.  He has gone before me and seen my future and knows that at an appointed time He will catapult me towards Greatness and doesn’t try to block my destiny.  How many people can you say will do that?  The answer is zero.  No one is capable of being in all spaces of time.  And there are people today who get a glimpse of your past and try to run you in the mud or see you operating in your gifts today and try to trip you up and they don’t even care about your future.

Remember there are good people who will have your back, but none compare to God.  When you feel like life is beating you down and you have a heavy heart, know that the battle doesn’t have to be fought on your own, God is on every side of you and with you!

Have a blessed day!

God’s calling; will you answer?

Sunshine’s Reflections

Good afternoon!  I pray your week is going well.

TFTD: God’s calling; will you answer?

Proverbs 8:32-34 (NKJV)

32 “Now therefore, listen to me, my children,
For blessed are those who keep my ways.
33 Hear instruction and be wise,
And do not disdain it.
34 Blessed is the man who listens to me,
Watching daily at my gates,
Waiting at the posts of my doors.

Back in the day, we didn’t have caller-identification.  Anytime the phone rang, someone in the house had to pick it up in order to find out who was calling.  With the advances in technology, caller ID came into the picture and changed our lives.  We were able to avoid the dreaded calls from the bill collectors and even ignore the call from that certain individual we didn’t want to talk to.  We gained control because of a little device that displayed the call before we answered.

I believe there is a spiritual caller ID.  This is a little device that shows us when God is trying to reach us.  Normally we watch the spiritual caller-ID when we know God is trying to compel us to do something, yet we keep resisting.  We have this overwhelming feeling that keeps nudging at our hearts, but we aren’t ready to accept it.  You know when God is calling you, He might come to you in a dream, He may send people to confirm a word to you, He places that thing on your heart and somehow you look at the spiritual caller ID and refuse to take the call.

Maybe God has been calling you to start a new ministry, go back to school, start preaching, start your own business, become a missionary, start your own church and the list goes on.  Unfortunately, we allow fear of the bigness of the vision to intimidate us.  We know when God is calling because He has confirmed the vision over and over again, but we keep ignoring Him as if He will just give up.  Well God is more persistent than a bill collector.  He loves you so much that He will continue to call you.  The question is, when will you stop running and answer the call?

How long will you call on God for things, but not answer Him when He calls you?  How long will you block His calls?  I don’t know what God is calling you to, but I do know He is calling you to greater and He is waiting for you to answer Him.  Will you answer?  Will you stop running?  Will you stop ignoring God?

Take a moment to examine your personal relationship with Christ and decide when you will answer the call.

Have a blessed day!

What are you willing to give Christ?

Sunshine’s Reflections

Good morning!  I pray you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.  I bless God for the time of rest and reflection.  I truly had a blessed time off over the break.

TFTD: What are you willing to give Christ?

Psalm 86:12 (NIV)

12 I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.

This morning I want to get right to the point and ask, “What are you willing to give Christ?”  Far to often believers proclaim they would give God any and everything IF He does a. b. and c.

  • Oh Lord, I will stop drinking if you get me home safely.
  • Lord, I will stop stealing if you get me out of jail.
  • Lord, I will stop gambling if you pay my mortgage.
  • Lord, I will start going to church if you get me out of this jam and that jam.
  • Lord, I will stop cursing if you will get me out of this mess.

Does any of this sound familiar?  It’s like we try to bargain with God for His grace and mercy.  It’s like we try to bribe God for His favor.

News flash:  God can’t be bought by empty promises.  His grace and mercy are not contingent on what we can do for Him, but rather on how much He loves us.  He loves us so much that He gave His Only Son so that we could have a chance at everlasting life.  He loves us so much that even while we wallow in our mess He spares us from what we deserve, which is death, hell and the grave.  So, when I ask you what are you willing to give Christ, I’m not referring to all of the pitiful pleas that you normally try to make with Him.  I want to know what are you willing to give God in order to grow closer to Him?  And before you respond, I want you to think long and hard about what will be required of you when you make your declaration.

The scripture above says, “I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.”  When you say you will praise God will ALL of your heart that means you must first get rid of some stuff that is currently taking up space.  Take time to ask God to examine your heart and reveal to you what things, behaviors, people and attitudes you need to let go of in order to receive more of Him.  Are you willing to give up sleep and rise early to meet God, are you willing to let go of the television shows that taint your spirit, are you willing to give up the music that makes you think about your past, are you willing to give up gossiping, are you willing to give up fornication, lying and drugs?  What are you willing to give Christ in order to praise Him with ALL of your heart?  What are you willing to give up in order to die to your flesh and submit to His spirit?  I know it’s a tough question, but it’s a necessary question.  It’s time out for lip-service and it’s time for children of God to rise up and live a life that is pleasing to God.

What are you willing to give Christ to be more like Him?

I pray you take time to really seek God concerning your spiritual walk.  It’s time to go deeper.

Have a blessed day!
