Happy New Year to all of my followers! I pray that 2014 is better than last year. I speak health, hope, love and liberation over you and your families spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically.
I’m back. I had to take some much-needed time to rest and have my spiritual cup filled. I missed you all and look forward to experiencing God in a new way!
TFTD: Deeper Dedication
Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
I attend Gethsemane Baptist Church and this year our church theme is “Deeper Dedication”. This is the year we focus on growing deeper individually and corporately. Typically at the beginning of the year everyone has some form of resolution to do better and be better. Church attendance tends to increase and I would step out on a limb and suggest that is because a lot of folks want to start the year off right. Intuitively we know that God can get things right, so we rush to church with no real direction; however, we know it’s a good place to start. When we look at having a deeper dedication to Christ, it’s important to look at how you start and even more important to see how you sustain the relationship throughout the rest of your life.
Seek FIRST the kingdom of God-the problem with most people is seeking God is a second, third, forth or in most cases the last option. We typically don’t go to God until it’s an emergency and life as we know it is about to end. Well if you are going to go deeper in Christ you must seek GOD FIRST!!! Make God a priority in your life. Set aside daily prayer and study time. Pray for God to give you the desire to CONSISTENTLY seek and serve Him. We are incapable of changing on our own and since we need help we might as well go to God to help us serve Him.
A common misconception among people is that you can do things a certain way all of your life and then BAM when you decide to change it will just happen automatically. WRONG! If you haven’t been praying, fasting, attending church, attending bible study, serving in ministry, etc., just because you sign up to do it all this year doesn’t mean it will happen without opposition. You may have the desire to get it together this year, but don’t think you can do it alone. As you commit to growing deeper with God ask Him to send you some spiritual accountability partners. These people can help encourage you a long the way. Trust me, you will need encouragement and accountability. We all need a spiritual check up from time-to-time. Commit to taking one day at a time with God. Don’t overwhelm yourself with New Year’s resolutions. Just give God your heart and accept that you can’t do anything right without Him anyway.
Seek God first and seek Him often! Write God in on your calendar or program Him on your calendar-EVERYDAY! We make time for everyone and everything else, the question is will you choose to make time for Christ?
It’s time to go deeper and you can’t get there if you don’t seek Christ FIRST!
Have a blessed day!
