Good morning! We have safely made it to the middle of the week. I pray that your week is going well. Remember to make time for God daily!
TFTD: What more do you require of God?
Matthew 7:21 (NKJV)
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
John 3:16 (NKJV)
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
“Lord, if you get me out of this, I will serve you for the rest of my life.”
“Lord, if you cure me from this disease, I will be your best servant.”
“Lord, if you help me with these bills, I will go to church on Sunday and serve you.”
How many people reading this has either thought or said some variation of the statements above at some point in your life? How many times have we gotten ourselves in a jam due to lack of self-control. We allow ourselves to give into temptation and we either over spend our money causing us to neglect our financial responsibilities, we engage in adulterous activity, we indulge in substances that can lead us to abuse and the list goes on. No matter what sin you have fallen into, there is always a desperate cry for the Lord to bail you out at some point.
My question is, “What more do you require of God?” John 3:16 tells us that God has already given you His only Son to die for you in order for you to have a chance at everlasting life. What more do you want from Him? Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice for you while you were a sinner and He didn’t have any guarantee that you would serve Him, but He died for you anyway. And now you want more? You want Him to bail you out after you fall time and time again.
When will you do more for Christ? When will you do what God requires of you?
What does God require of you? He requires you to accept Him as your Lord and Savior and then do His will.
Romans 10:9 (NKJV)
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
God doesn’t require you to give your life physically. He just requires you to die to your sinful ways spiritually. He doesn’t require you to be physically beaten and spit on and hung up on a cross with nails in your hands and feet for people who don’t even love Him or want Him. He just requires a YES from you. Stop going back and forth into sin. Stop messing up and then asking Him to clean it up. Choose to serve God. If you really took a look at your life, I would step out on a limb and say that God has already done enough for you. So what will you do for Him?
Spend time thinking about what you can for Christ. He just wants your “YES”!
