Good morning! Happy Thursday to you!
TFTD: Stop Worrying
Matthew 6:25-27 (NKJV)
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
Worry- to torment oneself with or suffer from disturbing thoughts, a cause of uneasiness or anxiety.
Why in the world would anyone want to torment themselves with disturbing thoughts that will ultimate lead them to a feeling of uneasiness or having anxiety? I don’t know the answer, but I know people do it all the time. There are times when I have to catch myself and even slap myself back into reality and scream “STOP WORRYING!”
God tells us in His word not to worry about life. There are times when we can become so consumed with what we think will happen next that we forget to LIVE in the RIGHT NOW! I see why God tells us to cast our cares on Him because He doesn’t want us tormenting ourselves. When I really think about it, I don’t want to torment myself. It sounds so painful and even demonic. Anxiety is not of God. He didn’t create us to be in distress. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
Did you know that anxiety is caused by fear? When a person fears the unknown they can have anxiety attacks. Will I get that job, will I pass that test, I lost my job what will we do now, this project cost too much money how can I afford that, and the list goes on. We begin getting all worked up over things we can’t control. God says, look at the birds, they don’t sow or reap and yet He takes care of them. Aren’t you more valuable than the birds?
Stop worrying! God didn’t give us the spirit of fear! I encourage you to seek God in prayer about how to truly surrender your cares to Him. Everything that is on your mind and in your heart, give it to God! Worrying doesn’t add anything to your life, it actually will deplete you. It can affect your spiritual, mental, emotional and physical health. It can affect how you interact with others. It can affect your work performance. It can do more damage than it will ever help. Stop worrying! God has equipped you with power, love and a sound mind, so combat that spirit of fear that leads you to tormenting your mind.
It’s time to STOP WORRYING!
Have a blessed day!
