Thought for the Day (TFTD):

Wash Me With the Word

Titus 3:5New International Version (NIV)

he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,

During cold and flu season, the doctor’s stress the importance of washing your hands. A normal part of ones routine consist of taking a shower, washing your face, brushing your teeth and so forth. To wash in the natural requires using water and some other liquid (soap, detergent) for the purpose of cleansing. Cleansing can be accomplished by dipping, rubbing or even scrubbing. The purpose of showering is to remove the dirt off of your body. The purpose of washing clothes is to remove stains and dirt from clothing. In the spiritual, washing refers to freeing from sin, guilt, shame, etc.

When you accept Christ as your Lord and Savior, He, who is the LIVING WATER frees you from the penalty of death, hell and the grave (Read John 3:16). Since Jesus is the Word made flesh (Read John 1:1-18) when you are washed with the Word, you are cleansed from your sin. Sometimes you have to be dipped or totally submerged in the Word through studying, praying and fasting. Sometimes you have to be scrubbed with the Word, which offers correction and rebuke. Sometimes you have to remove yourself from the filth of the world and say “WASH ME LORD!”

I challenge you not to just read the Word, but to be washed over with the Word. Allow your mind, body and spirit to be cleansed daily.

God bless.
