Sunshine’s Reflections

Good Morning!  I pray that your week is going well thus far.

TFTD: Do people know that you are His disciple

John 13:34-35 (New International Version, ©2010)

34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

When people see you and deal with you on a daily basis, can they tell that you are a child of God?  Do people know that you are His disciple?  What does your walk and how you treat others say about who you belong to?

Take a moment to think about the above questions.  It’s not enough to say with your mouth, “I am a Christian.”  Actions speaks louder than words.  What does your life say to people?  If you never opened your mouth to say, “I am a Christian, I am a disciple of Christ” would people know that you really were saved?  The Word of God says that we are to love one another as He has loved us.  How many of us really love one another the way Christ loves us?  I don’t know about you, but I need continual help in this area.  Loving people when they act unlovable is hard, but it is possible with God.

Believers today need to spend more time examining the love that Christ gives to us as individuals in order for us to demonstrate that same love to others.  God sent his Only Son to die for you while you were still a sinner-that’s love.  Jesus suffered, bled, and died for sins that you committed and would commit and He knew no sin-that’s love.  Jesus forgives you EVERY TIME you ask for forgiveness-that’s love.  Jesus does not keep records of your wrongs-that’s love.  Jesus gives you more than a second chance to get things right-that’s love.  Jesus does not kick you while you are down, instead He picks you up-that’s love.  I could go on for days about the love that is demonstrated to us as individuals.

Food for thought: We have been commanded to love others as Christ has loved us.  How hard do you work to follow this commandment?  Do people know that you are His disciple by looking at how you treat others or do they think you are a child of the dark side?

It’s time to love like Jesus loves.  It’s time to make a conscious effort to love others the way Christ loves us.  And anytime you try to hold a grudge with someone else or not speak to them, ask yourself “What would Jesus do to me in this situation?”  The answer is SHOW LOVE!

Have a blessed day living a life that is pleasing to Christ.  Let your life be an example to others.
